Opposite the Editorial Page

I want everyone that reads this text to ponder with me the idea of correctness. Correctness meaning conforming to standards of a specific ideology set of beliefs or values. Values are correct or incorrect relative to the particular worldview one ascribes to. The Associated Press reported yesterday, March 28, 2012, on the blog NewsOK.com that Oklahoma County District Judge Bryan Dixon eliminated a state law requiring women having abortions to view an ultrasound image and listen to a description of the fetus before the procedure.

Reproductive Justice and the Capability Approach

Before I begin writing regularly about reproductive justice and related subjects, I decided that it would be a good idea to contemplate what the reproductive justice framework is really about. I have known for some time about the list of issues and concepts normally included in reproductive justice discussions, but that is not the same thing as actually understanding the intellectual and moral ideas that underpin the entire subject. Digging through mission statements and my accumulated collection of theories of justice, I have come to the following conclusion: reproductive justice is basically the capability approach to justice applied to reproductive issues.
